Terms of Service

Hakkan is operated by Alroy Ndhlovu, a sole proprietor based in South Africa (the “Provider”, “we”, “us”). “You” means the person or organisation using the service.

Hakkan researches the public social conversation and the web for a topic you give it, produces a cited insights report, and helps you turn that report into content in your voice. Research draws on publicly available third-party data and large language models. We may change, improve, or discontinue features over time.

You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.

• Hakkan is metered in reports per month, each study including a set number of content pieces. Your plan sets the allowance; the current plans and prices are shown on the pricing and billing pages.
• New accounts receive a number of welcome reports to try the product, with no card required. When they are used, you continue on the free allowance or move to a paid plan.
• You may buy a one-time Report Pack for additional reports. Purchased studies do not expire and are used after your monthly allowance.
• Payments are handled by Paddle, which is the Merchant of Record for your purchase. This means Paddle, not the Provider, is the seller of record, and Paddle handles checkout, payment, and tax. Paddle’s buyer terms also apply to your transaction. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel or manage billing at any time from the customer portal in Settings.
• Refunds are handled through Paddle in line with their policy and applicable consumer law. Because studies are delivered as a metered service, consumed studies are generally non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

You agree not to:

• use Hakkan for anything unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or infringing;
• attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, or circumvent its usage limits or security;
• resell or redistribute the service itself, as opposed to the content you create with it;
• use the research or generated content to harass, defame, or mislead, or to impersonate a real person or organisation.

You keep ownership of the topics, samples, and other material you submit, and of the reports and content Hakkan produces for you. You are responsible for reviewing and for anything you choose to publish. Hakkan gives you the sources behind each claim so you can check them, but the decision to publish, and responsibility for what you publish, is yours.

You grant us the limited right to process your content solely to provide the service (for example, to send it to our sub-processors to generate a report).

Hakkan uses large language models and publicly available third-party data. Automated research and generation can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and third-party sources may be unavailable or inaccurate. We show coverage honestly and provide sources, but we do not warrant that any report or generated content is accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing Hakkan produces is legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Verify before you rely on or publish anything.

We own the Hakkan service, software, and brand. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the service as intended.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Provider is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.

You can stop using Hakkan and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end access if you materially breach these terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or to the service. On termination, the sections that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.

We may update these terms as the product and the law change. We will update the date at the top, and for material changes we will give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Hakkan after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa will have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
